Before the session
Record the horse, date, rider, responsible person and planned exercise. Use your yard’s established training instructions. This log records what happened; it does not prescribe workload or assess fitness.
Record what actually happened
Keep the planned session separate from the actual session. Note start and finish times, route, elapsed time and any interruptions. If GPS stopped, mark the gap rather than treating the route as complete.
Pocket Yard’s exercise tracking features can help record GPS routes and elapsed time. Reliable recording with a locked phone has not yet been established; check recording on your device and retain a manual fallback.

End with a handover
Record practical observations without diagnosing a problem. Route welfare concerns to the responsible professional. Use the daily checklist for outstanding yard tasks and agree who will follow up.
